Champagne D' Argent Information! The champagne D' Argent is a 6 class rabbit or a commerical rabbit. They only have one variety, unlike many other breeds with many different colors. The Champagne should be the color of a old silver coin. They should have a slate blue undercoat reaching as far down into their hair shafts as possible. They are allowed to be lighter with Sr. rabbits, but a nice rich color is preferred. Champagnes tend to lighten with each new coat so it makes it hard to be able to show them as they get to be more than a year or two. This is not always true. This is just my opinion and experience. For showing the champagnes need to have a nicely filled out hindquarter and filled out very well throughout the whole body. They should have a medium fine bone. The Champagne is a meat rabbit, so will be judged on what a typical meat rabbit would be. They should have nice tight flesh condition. WEIGHTS: Senior Bucks- 9 to 11 lbs. Senior Does- 9 1/2 to 12 lbs. 6/8 Bucks- not over 10 lbs. 6/8 Does- not over 10 1/2 lbs. Jr. Bucks and Does- not over 9 lbs. Minimum of 4 1/2 lbs. Pre-Jr. Bucks and Does- under 3 months of age, may nto weigh over 6 lbs. Jrs and 6/8s may be shown in higher class if they exceed the max. weight for class. I think that the Champagne D' Argents are some of the sweetest rabbits around. I love to spend lots of time with mine and they Love oats!
